Snap AV acquiring Control4 is big news in the A/V Smart Home world, a major shakeup. SnapAV bought Control4 in an all-cash transaction for what comes out to around $680 million dollars. SnapAV is a leading manufacturer and distributor of networking, remote management, surveillance, and other miscellaneous products for integrators. We happen to purchase a multitude of items from SnapAV. In fact, I would go as far as saying that they are in the top 2 companies that we purchase AV equipment from. Control4 is the other company in the top two. They are the industries best most reliable in-home automation (Smart Home); which, we believe in so strongly that it controls our own home. So naturally, my husband and I wondered what this would mean not only for us as distributors, but for you as consumers.
By merging, SnapAV and Control4 will combine the talent of their collective 1,200 employees, marketing leading solutions, exceptional distribution and financial resources to become a powerhouse for us integrators. They are going to remain focused on the pro install channel (meaning you get to keep your integrators and you don’t have to go thru Best Buy or some retail chain). I am in favor of this merge because more employees will mean more product and software innovation, and better customer service. I think it will benefit both the distributor and the end user.
